A Custom Veil and matching bridal gloves
There is something especially meaningful about creating a piece from just an idea. No sketches, no final vision laid out from the beginning, just inspiration, trust, and the collaborative process that follows.
This bride came to me with a gown that required alterations and an idea to create a veil and a few accessories to complete her bridal look. From there, we began shaping what would eventually become an entirely custom bridal accessory set: a handcrafted mantilla veil paired with matching lace gloves.
Mantilla veils have such a timeless elegance to them. Traditionally framed with lace around the edge, they create softness and movement while beautifully highlighting the bride rather than overpowering the gown.
For this piece, the lace itself became the starting point of the design process. We explored different possibilities together, discussing the type of lace, placement, length, and how the lace would frame the face and fall along the body.
The final veil was designed to feel romantic, delicate, and effortlessly dramatic all at once. The lace border framed the bride beautifully while still allowing the simplicity of the gown to shine through.
As I worked on the alterations of her gown and developed the veil, at her second appointment I suggested creating matching gloves using the same lace. It felt like the natural continuation of the look, something that would tie everything together without overpowering the gown.
The gloves were carefully designed to complement the veil without competing with it. Using matching lace throughout the accessories created a sense of cohesion that made the entire bridal look feel intentional and uniquely hers.
These kinds of details are often what elevate a bridal look from beautiful to unforgettable.
One of the most special parts of creating custom bridal accessories is that they allow brides to move beyond what already exists online or in stores. Instead of trying to make something “almost right” work, we can create pieces that truly reflect the bride, her gown, and the atmosphere she wants to create on her wedding day.
Sometimes it starts with a fully formed vision. Other times, like this project, it starts with only a feeling, a fabric, or a single detail.
And honestly, those are often my favourite kinds of projects.
